Nov 07, 2014 Enabling AHCI Mode After Win7/8 Installation Guide (Channel Upload #60) Here we have an in depth how to guide showing. This article shows you step-by-step how to activate the AHCI Mode in Windows 7 to may boost up the performance of a SSD. This don’t work every time, but for example by the OCZ Vertex 3 with a Sandforce Chipsatz we got a nearly 50% boost up in our tests after activating this mode in Windows 7! Try this instructions and check the performance after that with a Benchmarktool like the AS SSD to see if it worked. If not only turn it back to the IDE-Mode and every thing works fine again. If you change the SATA-Mode only in your BIOS, without preparing it in Windows may Windows will not found your hard-drive any more and even after setting it back windows could strike loading your drive. Step by step instruction in how to activate AHCI So before setting something up in your BIOS start with this instruction to make Windows ready for the changes. Step 1: Open the registry-editor. To start it click on the startbutton of Windows 7 (1). Write in the searching-field “regedit” (2). After that press the „Enter-button“ or click on “regedit” (3). Step 2: Jump to the key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesMsahci” Step 3: Search on the right sight the entry “Start”, double-click it (1) and set the value to “0″ (2). Apply your settings with “Ok” (3). Step 4: Close the registry-editor and apply your settings by starting-up windows new. Step 5: After that start your BIOS (often you have to press the Button F2 oder entf on your keyboard). Now you have to search after the SATA configuration and change the IDE-Mode in the AHCI-Mode. Step 6: After a new reboot the system will install the SATA-drivers and Windows 7 will install automatically a standart AHCI controller driver. Here you can see a comparison between the AS-SSD Benchmark in SATA-Mode IDE and AHCI. In this comparison you can see the performance boost, not only in the reading speed else in the writing speed. According to experts, the 4K 64Thread test in which the reade and write operations are raised to 64 threads (parallel running processes) got the most weight. With the OCZ Vertex 3 with the SandForce chipset the activation of the AHCI mode brings a 50% performance boost. Step 7: Now you can install the SATA-drivers from your mainboardmanufacturer, if there is one available. In some cases this specific driver can raise the performance a little bit more. For this you will have to find the correct SATA-controller driver. Surf to the website of the manufacturer of your mainboard and enter your mainboard type on the page (1) and search the SATA driver (2). Download it (3). Step 8: Click on the Windowsstartbutton (1), enter “Computer” (2) and open the “Computermanagement” (3). Step 9: Open the devicemanager (1), click on “IDE/ATAPI-Controller (2) and search the “StandardAHCI 1.0 Controller” (3). Step 10: Click with the right mouse button on “Standard AHCI 1.0 Controller.” and choose “actualize driver software” Step 11: Choose „Search on the computer after drivers“. Step 12: Choose under the point “search” (1) and choose the directory in which you saved the drivers. Windows will install the drivers. The drivers are installed. Step 13: Now reset the computer agaiin. After the system boots up again, you can do the AS SSD benchmark again, to see the difference with the correct drivers. The Score is in our test a little higher with the original driver, so you can see, that it is good to test the original drivers. They boost the system up a little more than the custom drivers. Share and Enjoy. I have a couple of clients that I want to enable AHCI and the OS is installed. Case 1 > Intel SE7230 set in IDE mode for CD ~ already has Intel SATA PCI (SRCS14L) RAID adapter > working fine w/ hot swap cage. Reason > I want to enable AHCI to allow hot swap of attached (backup) E-Sata drive. When USB drive attached computer will not boot unless drive is attached after OS starts. Case 2 > Intel S3210ah with 3-ware PCIE Raid Controller Reason > same as above I believe it is a known fault (the USB defaults to boot drive in BIOS and cannot be changed) so I would like solution of hot-swap external drive (Esata preferred) so I can remotely reboot if necessary (install updates, apps, etc) without turning off the external drive. I have enabled after the fact with Windows 7 with a reg entry and enable in bios > success. One is SBS 2003 and the other is Server 2003. If I enable AHCI only ~ I get BSOD (on the Se7230) ~ have not tried on the S3210. ** sorry I didn't mean to put it in the video card section **. Nov 18, 2017. Roll forward four years and I find myself still having similar conversations. Organisations are desperately looking for a more flexible approach to how they deploy authentication. There are instances where 2FA and 3FA are a requirement (it may be insisted upon by an industry regulator), but sometimes it is overkill for what the customer or employee wants to do and is not mandatory. In this instance there is a need for an authenticator that is much stronger than a single factor (typically a password). At Authlogics we provide a multi-factor solution suite that enables organisations to chose the number of factors (and half factors) they implement and manage all of it from a central console. I came in looking for supplies for my rabbit and wasn't that impressed with the experience. I ended up wandering the entirety of the store quite a bit as I couldn't find a single person to direct me to small pet supplies. For a store this size to have nobody working the floor in the middle of the day was very surprising and somewhat disappointing. When I finally did locate what I needed I was fairly impressed with the variety of food and litter they had stocked. The prices for some of the things though were just ludicrous. They wanted four dollars more for a bag of Timothy Hay then what I have been paying at their competitor Pet Planet. Regardless of the prices though I needed a bag of pellets and didn't want to go to another store so I grabbed one and headed up to the cash. The lady that rang me in was friendly but the lineup was long and another cashier didn't show up until I was about halfway through it. Goodness they must save alot of money here on payroll. There are many other pet stores in the city and I think if your a small pet owner you can get better deals elsewhere. Like I said at the beginning of the review PetSmart seems to be more for dog and cat owners. If you want it done right don't go to the one on calgary trail.they don't always clean ears, they sometimes miss a nail or two, once I even came in at 630pm on a wen and groomer was leaving because they were closing early,I got a stencil for halloween looked like a orange blob (cant believe they charged me for it) but i'm easy going and know people make mistakes I even still tipped them!! So for about a year iv been going once a month for nail clipping, toys,,food ect.but today they lost a customer, they lost my updated vaccinations AGAIN!!!really how hard it it to save something on a computer??this place has just really gone to crap over the last 6 months really poorly trained staff that do not know how to do the job,So like I should have months ago I will spend my money elsewhere. This is my go-to pet store for dog food and supplies as well as goldfish and pond related items. They have a huge selection of items so unless you are looking for something very special they will probably have what you need in-store. Find great deals on eBay for petsmart petperks. Shop with confidence. 4 of 7 people found this review useful. Was this review helpful to you? Ability to earn points [?]. I have been going to this store for a long long time. In fact I brought my dog Sundance here as a puppy for a puppy training course about 17 years ago! Since they are such a big store they often have very competitive, if not the lowest, prices. I really like the amount of pets that come this store. I bring mine when I can so they get to meet some new friends. I was there la few weeks back and someone had brought in their pet turtle and it was a big one. Unfortunately I didn't have my beagle Alice with me. I would have loved to see what she thought of that. I also forgot my cell phone at home so I couldn't even get a photo of it! They have a custom print your own metal dog tag machine which I have used to make many tags. I highly recommend anyone that has a pet get a ID tag for their pets collar. My dog was returned once because of it. I just heard of a story of a pet that was found which had a microchip but the finder never bothered (or didn't know) to take it to get scanned. Years later the owner was reunited with the pet but couldn't take it back due to pet restrictions where they moved to. But I digress. I have also used their pet grooming service. Mostly to get my dogs nails done. She would never let me do it so for $11 I would take her in to let them do it. It was marginally easier for them to do it even though it sometimes took 2 people. My experience with the grooming has generally been good but it varies as their staff seems to change quite a bit. The grooming area is wide open with lots of glass so you and other shoppers can see what is going on. All in all it is a good store that will meet most of your needs. We also like to shop at other local 'mom and pop' shops around Edmonton as well. It's nice to spread your money around to these local companies and sometimes they also have some very unique items you may not find at a big chain store. This is one of the better PetSmart locations in the city. It is large and has great selection of pretty much anything for any type of pet. My dog loves shopping here. He takes us up down every isle and always walks into the cashier booth to sit and wait for a treat. Overall decent store but lacking healthier food options at a decent price for your pets. I also have had a few negative experiences involving ordering online and picking up in store. One instance I ordered a cat tree online and I was told that it would be available to pick up in store. I went to the store to pick it up and they said that they already sold my tree. A massive disappointment. It took about 1 week for my money to be refunded; very inconvenient. We always come here to get our cat's food and kitty litter. If there is a sale, then we'll get her new kitty toys, a bowl or a new collar. I highly recommend getting a PetSmart PetPerks card that can get you a small discount on items. At the front of the store there are blank name tags that you can have inscribed with your pet's name. Most of the tags are a little too heavy for my cat to wear around her neck, but there are a few tags that are smaller and thinner (ie: fish). Her tag was around $7 and I have her name and my phone number on it. She's had her name tag for over a year and the lettering is still intact. Petsmart is one huge playground for our indoor kitty, so once in awhile we will bring her to the store on her leash. Other people bring their pets there too, usually dogs, but we've never had any problems. Our cat is timid, but she is stimulated by the smells, the sights of strange rodents and fish, and the occasional loose cricket hopping around. The only area that she avoids exploring is the cat adoption room on the far right side of the store. The stares from the other cats make her uncomfortable. The staff here is always great, always friendly, upbeat and knowledgeable about the items we're looking for. They even show love to our cat. Took our new puppy to Pets Smart when we first had her in June for her first hair groom. They did a reasonable job give you a nice detailed list on key things to do to train your dog to help them with their job. I would find this service more valuable if they would help to make our puppy feel more at ease for themselves than giving me additional work to do. The puppy training course is held by one person so there is limited flexibility. And honestly you could save over $100 if you watched the same teaching skills on YouTube. PetSmart really is a one stop shop. They always seem to have what I'm looking for (and more). They offer some quality dog food brands (Wellness, Nutrience, Royal Canin, Blue Wilderness). I did some research before choosing a puppy food and was pleased to see many of the top rated brands were sold at PetSmart. The staff at this location are always very friendly. Even though they probably see dozens of puppies everyday, whenever I bring my guy to the store they give him special attention (and treats). The prices are competitive and they have frequent sales. With a Pet Perks card you can take advantage of all the discounts. You can also conveniently shop online and pick up in store. They often have special promotions on their website. Sometimes it's as good as 30% off your purchase. I have been taking my Pomeranian Yorkie here for a number of years for grooming. He always is so happy when he leaves. He has a double coat, and it grows to be very scraggly and uncomfortable for him. For the first 2 or 3 years, they would refuse to shave him. They explained that his double coat would grow back ugly and unhealthy. A couple of times, they were quite rude to me and very condescending, and at one point, I got so upset, I vowed never to take him back. I tried a few other places and found that they were pretentious and rude, and my little Frye never had the same smile as when he left PetSmart. So, i had to take him back. I gave up on the battle to have him shaved and instead just let them do what they wanted. About 3 or 4 months ago, we took him in and the groomer said 'It's so hot for him to have all this hair. Why don't we shave him?' I was stunned and happy and said YES! Now, the last two times, he has been shaved and I couldn't be happier. I'm not worried about the regrowth because we take him for regular grooming. He loves showing off his new haircut:). Hey Petsmart, I went to the petland at 3803 Calgary trail to buy a new pet for my home. As I was petting one of the birds the girl who worked there Taylor started yelling and said don't touch the animals there's signs everywhere. Seemed weird since they were out of their cages and there was no sign. I mentioned that and she said if you don't like it there's the door. I decided to come to this pet smart location instead to buy a new pet. The girls here were insanely friendly and nice and let me pet some of the different pets. Obviously when you're deciding on a new pet you want to be able to touch them to see how you like each other. End story I ended up buying items from this location and will be back many times to buy more. Thanks for having great staff that are friendly. Especially the two girls in the fish department are great! Will be back for all future purchases. Would recommend this location to everyone, petland on Calgary trail though. Work on your customer skills if you want to keep customers. Thanks Kalan Rylee. This was the first time I ever went to a PetSmart. I tend to shop at smaller local places because I'm a bit picky when it comes to what my cat eats and I can't usually find it at places like this. I needed an ID tag after getting my cat chipped and I heard that they have a machine where you can do the tag yourself so a friend of mine and I stopped. Chaotic is probably the best way to describe it. The shelves had half of what they should have. Things were in disarray and by the time we actually made it to the checkout it was slow and disorganized. I think I would go back if I needed kitty litter or cat toys. But all in all it was a bit disappointing. I like this PetSmart for my (almost) one stop shopping for my goldendoodle puppy. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and great with pets. I like how at the checkout the cashier will ask if it is okay to give my pup a treat. I like to check out all the accessories and toys at PetSmart, as they have a great selection at reasonable prices (actually, some of the best prices for a pet store in town). It is always so tempting to pick up more than you originally intended as there are some pretty cute things at this store. The only thing I do not buy at PetSmart is my puppy's food, as I've continued feeding her the food which she was started on by the breeder, and the brand is exclusive to PetValu. PetSmart also does some reasonably priced dog training classes. We've attended the puppy class, and my puppy had a great time as well as learned a bit from Sarah, who is a very warm and excellent trainer. Make sure to join their free rewards program, which can save you several dollars on your purchases. While some days I wish I could pick up everything I need for my Waldo kitty at some fancy pet boutique, because, y'know, he's totally worth it (and as particular in general as I am), Petsmart gets the job done. One of the biggest cat sections in town. Carriers, a wall of toys (even fancy Martha Stewart toys, meeeeow), bowls, fountains, scratching posts, litter, litter boxes, food, treats, you got it. Not a ton of staff around to help, but when I find someone, they're great. When I had trouble finding the right carrier for him an employee really went above and beyond to help me find the right one. I also joined the Petsmart loyalty club, too, so I get discounts! A happy kitty is a happy kitty mommy, and this place keeps Waldo happy. Hi my name is Julianne and I am a Calgary Trail PetSmart junkie. This location is always well stocked, which has not been my experience with some of the other PetSmarts around town. It is a little too well stocked in fact. They always have something new and it results in a trip for a $50 bag of pet food turning into a $100 splurge. Lately I have been bringing my new puppy here for training classes. Sarah is an amazing trainer and it is nice to be able to practice the drills in a busy, real life scenario experience such as in the PetSmart aisles. Ideally, I would love to exclusively support the little guy and only shop at locally owned pet supply stores but I am on a budget and the prices here just can't be beat. I also appreciate that they do not sell cats or dogs, now if they would just stop selling the birds and small critters. This is where I buy cat food. I don't think I've ever bought anything else here, except on my last trip I was very tempted by the Halloween costumes. The only other thing I've considered buying here is the cat furniture, but I ended up getting a much higher quality cat tree for a really good price from Catman Cat Furniture (I've never waited behind more than one person in line, and if you sign up for their loyalty program you can sometimes save a few dollars. Pet owners are sure to have their local PetSmart store in heavy rotation on their errands run. Hello, Reader! Thanks for checking out Credit.com. We hope you find the site and the journalism we produce useful. We wanted to take some time to tell you a bit about ourselves. Our People The Credit.com editorial team is staffed by, each with many years of financial reporting experience. We’ve worked for places like the New York Times, American Banker, Frontline, TheStreet.com, Business Insider, ABC News, NBC News, CNBC and many others. We also employ a few freelancers and more than 50 contributors (these are typically subject matter experts from the worlds of finance, academia, politics, business and elsewhere). Our Reporting We take great pains to ensure that the articles, video and graphics you see on Credit.com are thoroughly reported and fact-checked. Each story is read by two separate editors, and we adhere to the highest editorial standards. We’re not perfect, however, and if you see something that you think is wrong, please email us at editorial team [at] credit [dot] com, The Credit.com editorial team is committed to providing our readers and viewers with sound, well-reported and understandable information designed to inform and empower. We won’t tell you what to do. We will, however, do our best to explain the consequences of various actions, thereby arming you with the information you need to make decisions that are in your best interests. We also write about things relating to money and finance we think are interesting and want to share. In addition to appearing on Credit.com, our articles are syndicated to dozens of other news sites. We have more than 100 partners, including MSN, ABC News, CBS News, Yahoo, Marketwatch, Scripps, Money Magazine and many others. This network operates similarly to the Associated Press or Reuters, except we focus almost exclusively on issues relating to personal finance. These are not advertorial or paid placements, rather we provide these articles to our partners in most cases for free. These relationships create more awareness of Credit.com in general and they result in more traffic to us as well. Our Business Model Credit.com’s journalism is largely supported by an e-commerce business model. Rather than rely on revenue from display ad impressions, Credit.com maintains a financial marketplace separate from its editorial pages. When someone navigates to those pages, and applies for a credit card, for example, Credit.com will get paid what is essentially a finder’s fee if that person ends up getting the card. That doesn’t mean, however, that our editorial decisions are informed by the products available in our marketplace. The editorial team chooses what to write about and how to write about it independently of the decisions and priorities of the business side of the company. In fact, we maintain a strict and important firewall between the editorial and business departments. Our mission as journalists is to serve the reader, not the advertiser. In that sense, we are no different from any other news organization that is supported by ad revenue. Visitors to Credit.com are also able to register for, which gives them access to a tool called The Credit Report Card. This tool provides users with two free credit scores and a breakdown of the information in their Experian credit report, updated twice monthly. Again, this tool is entirely free, and we mention that frequently in our articles, because we think that it’s a good thing for users to have access to data like this. Separate from its educational value, there is also a business angle to the Credit Report Card. Registered users can be matched with products and services for which they are most likely to qualify. In other words, if you register and you find that your credit is less than stellar, Credit.com won’t recommend a high-end platinum credit card that requires an excellent credit score You’d likely get rejected, and that’s no good for you or Credit.com. You’d be no closer to getting a product you need, there’d be a wasted inquiry on your credit report, and Credit.com wouldn’t get paid. These are essentially what are commonly referred to as 'targeted ads' in the world of the Internet. Despite all of this, however, even if you never apply for any product, the Credit Report Card will remain free, and none of this will impact how the editorial team reports on credit and credit scores. Your Stories Lastly, much of what we do is informed by our own experiences as well as the experiences of our readers. We want to tell your stories if you’re interested in sharing them. Please email us at story ideas [at] credit [dot] com with ideas or visit us on. Thanks for stopping. - The Credit.com Editorial Team.
